(This submission has been selected to be showcased at the National Jubilee Arts Festival (NJAF)

Title: Door of Knowledge

Type: Relief art on hardboard

Media: Earthenware clay with glaze and oil on hardboard.

Size: 36X24

Description:This artwork references an iconic quote from Prophet Muhammad (S. A.)“Ana Madinatul Ilm wa Ali Babuha” Means: I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate, in which he discusses the meaning of the Imamat and how it relates to our lives. By calling back to the past, the work seeks to connect to the theme of the legacy of the Imamat and what it stands for in the eyes of the Prophet. Furthermore, in Islamic architecture, door plays an important symbolic role determined by its form, scale and the inscription on it. In this relief art, I have sculpted a door with earthenware clay and inscribed one of the hadith of Prophet Muhammad (S.A) in which Hazer Ali (S.A) was referred as the door of knowledge.
